What's the difference between damp, condensation and mould?

Damp is excess moisture in the building fabric, it can come from rising damp, penetrating damp, or leaks. Condensation happens when warm, moist air meets cold surfaces and turns to water. Mould is the result of prolonged moisture, most often caused by condensation and poor ventilation. A proper survey identifies which one you actually have, so the right fix is applied.

Do I really need an independent survey?

Yes, most damp 'surveys' are carried out by companies who also sell the treatment, so the diagnosis often points to whatever they want to sell. As fully independent surveyors we have no products to push. You get an honest report on the actual cause and practical, proportionate solutions.
